Admittance to Cantate and Choralaires will require a live audition.
For orchestra musicians there are a number of ways to make a digital recording of your audition:
- Use your home pc, a microphone, and audio recording software. Once the file is created, it can then be either burned to CD and snail-mailed, or if smaller than 5MB can be emailed to the appropriate address. (use Mp3 format if possible.)
- Use your cell phone, iPod, or smartphone to record a “new sound”, and then email it to the appropriate address. (These are usually of low sound quality, but adequate for our purposes.)
- There are also many hand-held digital recorders that can interface with a pc and allow transfer of mp3 files.
- As a parent, when in doubt, ask your kids. They are sure to know how to do this themselves or have friends that can do so.
NOTE: If you have trouble emailing the file, it may be because the file size is too big. Try recording it with a lower quality setting if possible and re-send it. MP3 format is smaller than audio file format.
